Remembering Stefano Benni in London

Remembering Stefano Benni

When:  Thursday 9th October 2025, 6:00PM

Where: SIAL.school, 154-156 Holland Park Avenue, W114UH London (closest tube station: Holland Park)

“One thing Stefano told me many times was that he would have liked people to remember him by reading his stories out loud."

We are answering the invitation from Niclas, Stefano Benni’s son, and on October 9, 2025 – one month after his passing – we invite you to gather at SIAL from 6:00 PM to remember Stefano by reading his words aloud.

“Perciò io, che sono una bambina in scadenza, penso:
a) che I grandi non hanno più nulla da insegnarci;
b) che sarebbe meglio se noi prendessimo le decisioni e i temi scolastici contro la guerra li scrivessero loro;
c) che dovrebbero smettere di fare i film dove la giustizia trionfa e farla trionfare subito all’uscita del film
Ebbene sì, sono polemica”
Margherita Dolcevita

Stefano Benni was a writer, poet, humorist, journalist, screenwriter, and playwright.
He showed us that laughter opens the door to our most beautiful thoughts and reflections.

Inspired by a heartfelt idea from Filomena Campus, the event will be hosted by her alongside Ornella Tarantola

Everyone in the audience will have the opportunity to read aloud a short passage from their favourite Benni book. This collective event will bring us together as readers to honour the author by sharing the passages that have touched our hearts the most.

Please be sure to select at least two different passages to avoid duplication, and don’t forget to bring your own copy of the book.

Please note that the whole event will be held in Italian.
